Conexant’s low-power CX20952 HD audio codec, replete with two cap-free headphone amplifiers and a fully integrated Class D amplifier, monitors power delivered to speakers to ensure maximum sound pressure level (SPL) and optimize performance without damaging system components. It includes two cap-free HP/Line outputs and a universal jack that automatically detects and configures itself to support CTIA (Apple) or OMTP (Nokia) style headsets. As a result, the codec meets the needs of low-power, small form-factor devices, including support for multiple peripheral types (headphones, headsets, etc.) with a single 35-mm audio jack; support for an additional direct-drive headphone output on a docking station or second jack panel; and loud, clear audio playback from small speakers in space-limited enclosures. Its stereo AudioSmart Class-D speaker amplifier offers intelligent delivery of up to 2.8 W per channel. Integrated hardware EQ/DRC comes with SpeakerShield Class-D protection. A mono output has tunable hardware for subwoofer applications. Also, up to four digital microphones support advanced configurations for tablets, convertibles, clamshells, and AIOs. An I2C interface allows for real-time software control of auxiliary devices.
