A total of 16 a-d inputs, eight d-a outputs, and 16 digital I/O with various programmable modes are all incorporated within the high-speed, versatile RPC628 I/O card. The card's analog inputs, which offer 12-bit resolution, can operate as 16 single-ended inputs or eight differential inputs, with each input protected to ±32 V. Full-scale voltages (unipolar or bipolar) from 25 mV to 10 V may be used. Various methods of control are available for a-d conversions: random-channel single conversions per command, a single conversion per command with auto increment, continuous conversions in a single channel, continuous conversions with auto increment, or by external trigger. Conversion intervals may be programmed from 4 ms to 64 ms. As an option, 4- to 20-mA current loops are available. The eight analog outputs have 12-bit resolution and can be set to one of seven voltage ranges: 2.5 V, 5 V, 10 V, ±5 V, ±10 V, −5 to 0 V, and −10 to 0 V. When a card has current loops installed, analog outputs can be configured as all current loops, all voltages, or a mixture of the two. Also, the 16 digital I/O can be individually programmed to be either inputs or outputs. A commercial temperature card with all analog and digital I/O is priced at $429 in single-unit quantities.
