Industrial x86 Smart Camera Integrates 1.9-GHz Quad-Core Processing

June 19, 2014
Increased power in ADLINK Technology’s next-generation NEON-1040 x86 smart camera comes from a quad-core Intel Atom E3845 1.9-GHz processor along with FPGA co-processor support that accelerates image pre-processing (e.g., lookup tables, regions of interest, and shading correction).

Increased power in ADLINK Technology’s next-generation NEON-1040 x86 smart camera comes from a quad-core Intel Atom E3845 1.9-GHz processor along with FPGA co-processor support that accelerates image pre-processing (e.g., lookup tables, regions of interest, and shading correction). As a result, it reduces CPU loading and enables complex acquisition at high speeds. Shutter speed gets a boost thanks to a 4-Mpixel, 60-frame/s monochrome global shutter CMOS sensor. An additional Gigabit Ethernet port facilitates connectivity with external devices, such as GigE Vision slave cameras and EtherCAT with I/O control modules. Built-in pulse-width-modulation (PWM) lighting control conserves total cost of ownership while communicating with LED lighting. I/O support includes 2x isolated inputs, 2x isolated outputs, a USB 2.0 port, RS-232 ports, and VGA output (2560 × 1600 at 60 Hz, max.). Housed in a rugged, dust-proof IP-67-rated casing measuring 68.5 by 110 by 52.7 mm, the camera can withstand harsh industrial environments such as machine tooling and food/beverage packaging.
