MCU Secures USB Tokens

May 3, 2011
Sculpted for secure transactions and digital identity, the AT90SO72 secure microcontroller (MCU) particularly meets the needs of USB authentication token apps.

EMBEDDED SYSTEMS CONFERENCE, MAY 2011 – Sculpted for secure transactions and digital identity, the AT90SO72 secure microcontroller (MCU) particularly meets the needs of USB authentication token apps. A wide operating temperature, flexible I/O configurations, and optimized cost also make it a contender for use in smart meters, secure data storage, and machine-to-machine (M2M) systems. The AT90SO72 is based on the company’s 8-/16-bit enhanced RISC CPU and is Common Criteria EAL4+ ready.  It features a hardware random number generator, hardware AES (128-, 192- and 256-bit key supported), DES, triple DES, and the company’s Ad-X2 advanced hardware crypto accelerator, which supports RSA up to 4,096 bits, DSA, Diffie-Hellman, and all FIPS-recommended elliptic curves up to 1,024 bits. Key generation support is also on tap for both RSA and ECC. Other features include 288 KB of ROM and 72 KB of EEPROM. INSIDE Secure Americas, Redwood City, CA. (650) 517-1070.
