Motor-Control Prototyping Kit Boosts Performance, Adds Industrial GbE

Dec. 18, 2013
The Zynq-7000 All Programmable SoC/Analog Devices Intelligent Drives Kit opens the door to accelerated prototyping of next-generation motor-control applications.

The Zynq-7000 All Programmable SoC/Analog Devices Intelligent Drives Kit opens the door to accelerated prototyping of next-generation motor-control applications. Available from Avnet Electronics Marketing, it combines Xilinx’s Zynq-7000 All Programmable SoC ARM dual-core Cortex-A9+, 28-nm programmable logic with the latest generation of Analog Devices’ data converters and digital isolation, fostering high-performance motor control and dual Gigabit Ethernet industrial networking connectivity. The kit is supported by model-based design using Simulink, Embedded Coder, and HDL Coder from Mathworks. As a result, engineers can use an integrated hardware/software workflow to prototype on hardware directly from Simulink and deploy into production using Xilinx’s Vivado Design Suite. A pre-built Zynq reference design of Field Oriented Control features Analog Devices’ Ubuntu Linux framework. Specific integrated applications within the industrial and medical markets include surgical-assist robotics, video surveillance and machine vision, vending machines, as well as manufacturing, assembly, and automation.
