Version 6.0 of VxWorks provides new features that include a suite of memory-protection functions, scalable message-passing architecture, and a flexible application program interface (API). Other added enhancements include third-party application support, error detection and reporting mechanisms, a dual-mode IPv6/IPv4 network stack, and integration with Wind Power IDE 2 that supports both VxWorks 6.0 and Linux.
