A low-cost means of pulse counting and frequency measurement is available in the AIM104-PULSE, a PC/104-based module that accepts inputs directly from field transducers, such as strain gauges, Hall-effect sensors and shaft encoders. Inputs are processed according to specific software requirements and outputs, such as bus interrupts, can be generated. The module features 16 channels of opto-isolated (1 kV dc) inputs for status, pulse and frequency measurement with a range of 10 to 36 vdc.
