Designed for telecom infrastructure applications, the PmPPC7447 ProcessorPMC (PrPMC) card consumes 18W of power at 3.3V while supporting a 1 GHz PowerPC7447A processor, two GB of memory, and three Ethernet ports. The card is said to be a more than suitable for use as a control plane processor for optical and wireless infrastructure, as well as augmenting packet processing and routing performance in voice gateways and for enhancing protocol processing performance in SS7 and SIGTRAN signaling control points and gateways. Features include a Marvell Discovery III system controller, an Altivec vector processing unit with 32 KB of L1 instruction/data cache and 512 KB of L2 cache, two 10/100/1000 Base-T Ethernet ports routed to the PMC connector, and one 10/100 Base-TX Ethernet port.
