Renesas R32C Tool Package Supports ORTI

Aug. 22, 2007
The IAR Embedded Workbench for Renesas R32C from IAR Systems includes advanced features particularly suited for use in automotive applications.

As part of its commitment to support the entire Renesas M16C family of microcontrollers, IAR Systems has launched the IAR Embedded Workbench for Renesas R32C. This collaboration between IAR Systems and Renesas Technology targets developers wishing to use a C/C++ compiler for R32C. Its advanced features particularly suit automotive applications. The toolset supports all the devices in the R32C series with header files, device description files, and so on. Beginning a new applications development project is then simple and quick, saving time that would normally be spent setting up a project. It also makes it easy to migrate from one MCU to another within the M16C family while still working within a familiar environment, with minimum changes required in the source code

IAR Embedded Workbench for R32C includes a C-SPY driver for the Renesas E30 emulator, making it possible to use C-SPY hardware debugging in real-time. Built-in awareness for OSEK Run-time Interface (ORTI) makes it possible to debug applications built around this interface standard, which is particularly prevalent within the automotive industry. A built-in MISRA C checker automatically checks C source code for compliance with the MISRA C rules. IAR Embedded Workbench is the only tool for R32C that integrates both ORTI debugging and a MISRA C checker, according to the company.
