Standalone In-System Programmer Handles Production Tasks

March 9, 2007
SofTec Microsystems' FlashRunner can also be controlled by a host system through RS-232.

FlashRunner is a universal, high-performance, standalone in-system programmer for production use with flash-based microcontrollers and serial memories. The device piggybacks with the customer's programming system or automated test equipment via header connectors and can work in either full standalone mode (with projects and codes images stored on a memory card) or under control of a host system via RS-232. FlashRunner's open architecture makes its firmware easily upgradeable to support both new devices and new features.

The device uses the fastest programming algorithms (as fast as the target chip's memory technology) approved by the silicon manufacturers, according to SofTec Microsystems. It supports most in-system programmable protocols, including BDM, JTAG, SPI, I2C, MON, ICC, SCI, and more. The FlashRunner's compact, robust design is flexible and fully configurable and includes opto-isolated control signals. To ensure the data's integrity, every data transfer to and from the host system or Secure Digital card is CRC tagged.
