Entering further into InfiniBand markets, the company debuts a 24-port switch with independent 4x ports supporting bit rates of up to 10 Gb/s in each direction and a PCI-X host channel adapter (HCA) with two 4x ports. The EIS-4024-1U copper-cable, unmanaged switch is based on a single Mellanox InfiniScale III switch IC that provides an aggregate bandwidth of 480 Gb/s and a latency of less than 200 ns. Each 4x port supports bit rates up to 10 Gb/s in either direction, allowing a 16 Gb/s full-duplex data rate per port. The switch is enclosed in a 1U, 19-inch rack-mount chassis with all ports on the rear. With dual 20 Gb/s 4x InfiniBand ports, the IB4X-LPCIX-2 HCA exploits Mellanox InfiniHost silicon and is capable of full wire-speed transmissions over InfiniBand links. It also supports RDMA transfers, said to reduce CPU overhead and free up host processors. Additionally, the HCA includes application support for sockets direct protocol, Internet protocol over InfiniBand, and SCSI remote protocol initiator. The IB4X-LPCIX-2 is priced at $1,200 and the EIS-4024-1U costs $7,500. For further information, contact Greg Morgan at SBS TECHNOLOGIES INC., Albuquerque, NM. (505) 888-9855.
