New security features and fixes, including a redesigned firewall, highlight the Service Pack 2 (SP2) for Windows XP Embedded. Also included is Software Update Services support, dubbed the Windows Embedded for Point of Service (POS), that's ideal for a new Windows XP platform. POS addresses plug-and-play integration and management of retail device peripherals such as scanners, receipt printers, cash drawers, and magnetic stripe readers. Together, SP2 and POS simplify the setup, deployment, and management of POS systems. The package supports the existing Unified Point of Service (UPOS) standard, along with support for the .Net Framework and the Systems Management Server 2003.
