VXI DAQ Modules Deliver Scaleable TestVXI DAQ Modules Deliver Scaleable Test

    Sept. 1, 1996
    Evaluation Engineering

A new line of VXI-based multifunction data acquisition (DAQ) instrument modules delivers scaleable test, with VXI and PC test components interchangeable. The VXIplug&play-compliant line includes the VXI-MIO-64E-1 and VXI-MIO-64E-10 multifunction analog, digital and counter/timer modules; the VXI-DIO-128 digital I/O module; the VXI-AO-48XDC analog output and digital I/O module; the VXI-SC-1000 signal conditioning carrier module; the VXI-SC-1102 amplifier/lowpass filter signal conditioning module, and the VXI-SC-1150 fixed excitation signal conditioning module.

The VXI-MIO Series modules have the same custom ASIC technology used on the latest generation of National Instruments VXI controller products and E Series instrumentation-class DAQ hardware. This common architecture enables you to build instrumentation systems that are scaleable between PC-based and VXI-based.

All modules include the NI-DAQ® general-purpose software, which has the standard NI-DAQ API. If you developed applications using National’s DAQ products for PC/XT, AT, EISA, PCI, NuBus or PCMCIA, you can immediately run these applications on the VXI-based modules with no software rewrite. All VXI-DAQ instrument modules are compatible with LabVIEW® and LabWindows®/CVI.

Custom ASICs, NI-DAQ software and application software give you the capability to have five or six virtual instruments on one module, operating simultaneously.

The VXI-MIO-64E-1 and the VXI-MIO-64XE-10 have 64 single-ended and 32 differential analog inputs, eight TTL-compatible digital I/O, two 24-bit 20-MHz up/down counter/timers, and analog and digital triggering. The VXI-MIO-64E-1 has a sampling rate of 1.25 MS/s, 12-bit ADC resolution and two 12-bit analog outputs. The VXI-MIO-64XE-10 has a sampling rate of 100 kS/s, 16-bit ADC resolution and two 16-bit analog outputs.

The VXI-DIO-128 offers 64 channels of digital input with a programming input threshold of ± 32 V. It features 64 digital outputs and up to 250 mA of sink current capability per channel. The VXI-AO-48XDC has 48 static analog output channels you can individually program with 16-bit accuracy. It includes 16 TTL-compatible, bidirectional digital I/O lines to interface with a variety of external digital interfaces..

The VXI-SC-1102 signal conditioning plug-in is a 32-differential-channel multiplexer with lowpass noise filters and gain amplifiers on every channel. The VXI-SC-1150 provides 32 channels of fixed voltage or current outputs selectable in groups of eight.

    VXI-MIO-64E-1: $3,495; VXI-MIO-64XE-10: $3,995; VXI-DIO-128: $1,500; VXI-AO-48XDC: $2,800; VXI-SC-1000: $995; VXI-SC-1102: $1,200; VXI-SC-1150: $1,200. National Instruments, (800) 433-3488.
