Not Just a Magazine Anymore

I'm sure many of you never looked at the words just under the month and year on the cover of this publication. You probably haven't noticed the tag line (that's what we call those words) on other magazines either. Not to keep you in suspense, those words on EE used to read The Magazine of Electronic Evaluation and Test. We carried that tag line for almost a quarter century, and it served us well. It stated in just a few words what our mission was in the industry: To provide readers with the latest information on the technologies, products, events, and news that are driving the evaluation and test market.

The major reason we changed the tag line is to more correctly identify who we are and what exactly we provide to the global technical community. The line now reads, Written by engineers…for engineers. It more accurately states the level of technical information you are presented to remain informed on important issues driving our industry. The tag line is your assurance that articles published in EE are prepared by engineering professionals who want to share their knowledge and experience to better inform you, our readers. The articles are written to give you in-depth technical information that you need to perform your jobs better.

Also, EE is not just a magazine. Yes, we still publish the printed journal, and it's mailed to more than 60,000 readers. But, we also publish a digital edition that is e-mailed to several thousand international and domestic subscribers. These subscribers receive the publication days before those who get the printed copy by mail. As an added bonus, the digital subscribers are only a click away from accessing a wealth of information including advertisers' websites, product data sheets, application notes, white papers, and reference materials. And the digital edition has the look and feel of the printed copy, including page turning and article scanning.

Offering more than just the paper copy, we e-mail an EE newsletter to thousands of opt-in subscribers every month. The newsletter includes selected feature articles on a variety of engineering topics that support the for engineers message. Of course, the newsletter has industry news items, upcoming events, and more to keep subscribers up-to-date on goings-on in the industry.

New this year are two reports that will be specifically delivered to selected subscribers involved in instrumentation and EMC, respectively. The Instrumentation Test Report and the EMC Test Report will feature content not published in EE or the newsletter that is focused on the technical issues pertinent to each segment of the industry. Only opt-in subscribers will receive the individual test reports.

Finally, visitors to www.evaluationengineering.com will see a completely redesigned EE website. We listened to your comments and suggestions and incorporated a host of changes. From Today's News to the White Paper Library, it now offers visitors much more information and easy accessibility to article archives and buyers guides. Also conveniently interspersed throughout the website are links to product descriptions and reference documents.

Be sure to check out our new website and tell me what you like or don't like. I appreciate your comments, all comments, whether pro or con. We want to make the EE package, whether printed magazine, digital edition, newsletter, or test report, the one place you go to find the information you want.
