AXIe system simulates radar and warfare tests

The M8190A is a modular arbitrary waveform generator that delivers simultaneous high resolution and wide bandwidth with a large spurious-free dynamic range and low harmonic distortion. A proprietary digital-to-analog converter serves as the basis for the Arb’s performance. The DAC, fabricated with a silicon-germanium BiCMOS process, operates at 8 GS/s with 14-bit resolution and at 12 GS/s with 12-bit resolution. At 8 GS/s, the DAC delivers up to 80-dBc SFDR.

The Arb offers up to 5 GHz of analog bandwidth per channel simultaneously and the capability to build scenarios with 2 GS of waveform memory. The M8190A also can generate multilevel signals with programmable ISI and jitter up to 3 Gb/s. It runs on an AXIe modular system and can be used with either a two-slot or five-slot chassis.
