Signal generator features frequency synthesis technique

The SG384 RF Signal Generator offers a DC to 4.05- GHz frequency range with 1-µHz resolution, an OCXO time base, and RS-232, GPIB, and Ethernet interfaces. An optional frequency doubler extends the frequency range to 8.10 GHz. Low-jitter differential clock outputs and a rubidium time base also are available.

SG384 capabilities include amplitude, frequency, phase, and pulse modulation with -116-dBc/Hz phase noise at 20-kHz offset from 1 GHz. An internal modulation source produces sine, ramp, saw, square, and noise waveforms; an external modulation signal may be applied to a rear-panel input. The SG384, based on the rational approximation frequency synthesis technique, can sweep continuously from DC to 62.5 MHz; for frequencies above 62.5 MHz, each sweep range covers more than an octave.
