Former professional baseball player Jose Canseco has taken to Twitter to comment on the Rosetta mission to Comet 67P/C-G. He says (somewhat reasonably) that comets travel faster than any spacecraft we are likely to build (at least in the near future) and (less believably) that “Galactic beings have used comets as star taxis forever.”
Harnessing comets, he suggests, could open business opportunities in galaxy touring and interstellar trade.
BDCwire reports, “The Harvard Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics did not return requests for comment addressing rumors that they have hired Canseco as the Senior Researcher for the Star Taxi Exploration Division.”
Perhaps he is working at a startup that will let you order a comet taxi using an Uber-like mobile app.
