Ohio University infographic honors ‘amazing electrical experiments’

Today, June 10, marks the 263rd anniversary of Benjamin Franklin’s alleged kite experiment. In honor of the date, the Russ College of Engineering and Technology at Ohio University has released an infographic titled “Beyond the Kite and Key, Amazing Electrical Experiments that Furthered Engineering Innovations.”

The experiments extend from c. 1600 to 1958. Highlights include William Gilbert and the loadstone, Charles du Fay and his discovery of vitreous and resinous electricity, Luigi Galvani and the frog, Alessandro Volta and the voltaic pile, Joseph Henry and electromagnetism, Charles Brush and the dynamo, Alexander Graham Bell and the telephone, Thomas Edison and the filament, and Jack Kilby and the integrated circuit.
