Benchtop DC power supply

The PWR-01 Series wide-range benchtop DC power supplies include models offering 400-W, 800-W, and 1,200-W rated power output and maximum rated voltage up to 650 V. Equipped with a 30% increase in power density compared with the company’s previous model, the PWR-01 provides flexible current and voltage for a variety of applications.

Variable internal impedance is a new feature that allows for various types of simulations suitable for automotive test and battery-driven applications as well as solar-panel evaluation.

The PWR-01 also is equipped with a soft-start function that limits the inrush current, minimizing any harmful effects to DUTs such as DC motors. The PWR-01 programmable internal-memory feature lets the operator save custom sequences on the device.

Synchronized operation allows for more complex sequences over multiple channels for accurate testing of DC/DC converters and other products. LAN (LXI), USB, and RS-232 interfaces are included as a standard; the PWR can be operated in almost any testing environment via SCPI commands, facilitating system integration. Kikusui Electronics

DAQ devices

The USB-1808 Series high-performance DAQ devices feature eight 18-bit simultaneous analog inputs as well as sample rates up to 200 kS/s per channel, making them suitable for high-speed applications that need high resolution and accuracy. USB-1808 Series devices also offer two analog outputs, four digital I/O lines, two counter inputs, and two quadrature encoder inputs. They feature synchronous I/O, which allows users to read analog, digital, and counter inputs and generate analog and digital outputs at the same time.

Software options for the USB-1808 Series include DAQami and TracerDAQ to display and log data along with comprehensive support for C, C++, C#, Visual Basic, and Visual Basic .NET. Support also is included for DASYLab and NI LabVIEW. OEM versions are available and feature a board-only design with header connectors. Measurement Computing

Thermocouple/voltage instrument

The EX1401 precision 16-channel isolated thermocouple and voltage-measurement instrument delivers accuracies of ±0.20°C, 1,000-V channel-channel isolation, built-in self-test capabilities, and independent 24-bit ADCs per channel. Independent cold junction compensation—implemented on a per-channel basis—and open thermocouple detection further enhance the instrument’s capabilities.

Unlike other thermocouple and voltage-measurement instruments, the EX1401 offers Power over Ethernet+ (PoE+) and flexible DC power options for portable applications. With the capability to acquire data at 20 kS/s/channel, the EX1401 can be deployed in situations that demand rapid responses to quickly changing conditions. An industry-standard LXI interface allows the EX1401 to be distributed and positioned close to the device under test, reducing the implementation and support costs associated with long cable lengths. The EX1401 also supports IEEE 1588 Precision Time Protocol, allowing engineers to synchronize measurements from many devices throughout the test application. AMETEK VTI Instruments

Midrange oscilloscope

The new 5 Series MSO offers a 15.6-inch capacitive-touch high-definition (1,920 x 1,080) display as well as up to eight input connectors, which the vendor calls FlexChannels. By default, each input is a TekVPI+ connector that accepts all TekVPI analog probes. However, connecting a new TLP058 logic probe converts an input to eight digital channels, allowing for as many as 64 digital channels.

All 5 Series MSOs can be purchased or field-upgraded with an arbitrary/function generator, digital probes, extended record length up to 125 Mpoints, additional protocol support, and bandwidth up to 1 GHz. An upgrade to 2 GHz is available through Tektronix Service Centers. The scopes are all backed by a three-year warranty. The 5 Series MSO is priced from $12,600. Tektronix

Boundary-scan controller

SCANFLEX II CUBE modular JTAG/boundary scan controllers offer a multifunctional architecture that allows users to combine numerous technologies flexibly and with high performance on a single platform. Embedded board test offers the advantage of an improved test depth for complex boards even without needles, and an embedded functional test can be implemented while embedded programming makes external programmers unnecessary.

Eight independent, parallel test access ports for up to 100 MHz enable synchronized execution of test, debug, and programming operations via embedded JTAG solutions (boundary scan, processor emulation, chip-embedded instruments). SCANFLEX II CUBE can be controlled via USB 3.0 and LAN. Goepel electronic

Reference oscillators

Six new free-running reference oscillators generate a highly stable and accurate output frequency response with low phase noise and spurious performance levels, making them suitable for use in phase-locked loops, function generators, and frequency synthesizers as well as in receivers for communication, radar, navigation, surveillance, and test and measurement applications. These free-running, fixed-tuned oscillators use a high-stability internal crystal reference as an integral part of the phase-locked assembly with a buffered amplifier output stage for improved ruggedness. They provide a reliable single-output frequency source and excellent performance with respect to temperature stability, induced noise, and overall efficiency.

The oscillators are available with single-output frequencies of 10 MHz, 50 MHz, or 100 MHz. These designs offer a dependable frequency output with stability levels of ±5 ppm and are aging-rated at less than 1 ppm. Additional typical performance features include an output power level of +7 dBm, phase noise as low as -150 dBc/Hz at 10-kHz offset, and low spurious output of -70 dBc. Pasternack

Drum cores for EMI filtering

A line of low-cost, high-performance drum core inductors is designed for EMI filtering and switch-mode power-supply applications. With a product offering of more than two dozen models with inductance values from 100 to 10,000 µH, the new PM-R Series boasts low DC resistance, providing low temperature rise at high peak currents. Their combination of high peak current and high self-resonant frequency makes the PM-R Series inductors suitable as a drop-in replacement for lower performing drum core devices. And in applications where the devices’ maximum height of 10.0 to 11.5 mm is acceptable, the PM-R Series offers a cost-effective alternative to surface-mount inductors.

The PM-R drum core inductors are offered in two series: PM-R2 (7.5 mm dia x 10.0 high max) and PM-R3 (9.5 mm dia x 11.5 high max), each offering models with a range of 100 µH to 10 mH. Both series of inductors are available with sleeving (+125°C) and without sleeving (+155°C). The standard operating temperature range is -40 to 130°C, with higher temperatures available. The radial-leaded components are RoHS compliant. Price starts at $0.15 each in OEM quantities. Samples are in stock for immediate delivery. Delivery is eight weeks ARO for OEM quantities. Calibration software

PS-Cal calibration software allows fully automated RF power sensor calibration and supports a range of RF power sensors from multiple manufactures with customizable procedures. It offers the capability to read and adjust EPROM data of most Anritsu, Keysight, Rohde & Schwarz, Boonton, and Giga-tronics power sensors. Flexible standards allow the operators to use the instruments in their lab, and the data is stored for easy manipulation.

All procedures operate on TEGAM’s PMX Series calibration system from 6 kHz to 50 GHz. The PMX is a complete turnkey system that incorporates the signal generators, network analyzers, microwave power standards, and other accessories with worldwide installation and support. The software is produced by Cal Lab Solutions and available from TEGAM
