Keane joined the Astronics' board and began his career with the company in 1970, and was named chairman in 1974. Also starting that year, he served as president and chief executive officer until 2002. He served as a board member for nearly 50 years at the time of his passing. Astronics said Keane was actively involved in his community, serving on several boards and volunteering his time with numerous organizations.

He worked tirelessly throughout his nearly five decades to transform Astronics and left a remarkable legacy that will benefit the company well into the future. His extraordinary leadership, vision and enthusiasm will be deeply missed.”
