BGA Adapter Handles Test/Burn-In Apps

Nov. 12, 2009
Addressing the demanding requirements for burn-in and test applications, the SBT-BGA-6505 BGA adapter uses a contactor in the form of a stamped spring pin with a 26g actuation force per ball and a cycle life of 100,000 insertions.

Addressing the demanding requirements for burn-in and test applications, the SBT-BGA-6505 BGA adapter uses a contactor in the form of a stamped spring pin with a 26g actuation force per ball and a cycle life of 100,000 insertions. Specs include a self inductance on the contactor of 0.88 nH, an insertion loss of less than 1 dB at 20 GHz, and a capacitance of 0.097 pF. Current capacity of each contactor is 4A at a +80 °C rise. Socket temperature range is -55 °C to +180 °C and it also features a floating guide for ball-to-pin alignment. The adapter supports BGA packages with a 17 mm x 17 mm body size, 0.8-mm pitch, and a 20 x 20 ball array. Single-unit pricing for the SBT-BGA-6505 is $1,268. IRONWOOD ELECTRONICS, Burnsville, MN.
