Groomed to meet the demands of electric vehicle (EV) and hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) OEMs, the RCS and APEX high-power connector families pack features that reflect the unique challenges presented by EV and HEV applications. The Apex 950 specifies a current carrying capacity up to 150A, and the RCS-800 terminals employ a novel 8-mm, round-pin design that makes more efficient use of space than an equivalent square terminal. The round RCS terminals also provide a high number of contact points and can handle up to 250A and above, depending on exact user specifications. The connectors also employ special surface plating to protect against surface damage and a unique, two-step mating process that guarantees the connectors cannot disconnect while high currents are in play.
