SIM Card Connectors And Carrier Trays Save Space

Determined to reduce space requirements in GSM telephones and PDA terminals, the SCX series surface-mount subscriber identity module (SIM) card connectors with carrier trays sport what is said to be a unique, low profile design. The connector's contacts employ solder tails arranged in a single row on a 1.27 mm pitch. Two tabs are included at the front of the socket to provide reinforcement when attaching the component to either a PCB or FTC. The contacts are fabricated from a copper alloy and gold plated, the housing is molded from UL 94V-0 nylon, and the carrier tray is made of UL 94V-0 PBT. The connector is rated for voltage and current up to 30 Vac/dc and 0.7 Aac/dc, respectively, and operating temperature range is from -25°C to 85°C. The connectors are packaged on reels using embossed tape to accommodate automatic pick-and-place equipment and the carrier trays are packaged bulk in bags.
