The LGA 1944 debuts as a surface-mount LGA socket for AMD's Opteron 6000 series server processor. Meeting the processor’s high-speed and -performance specs, the socket includes contacts 0.6-mm diameter solder balls for surface mounting while its top side provides a cantilever beam interface to the processor.  The socket actuation mechanism generates the compression load and works with AMD bolster plate part number 49Z0000042.
