Maxim is now sampling the MAX3601, a highly integrated, 8-bit RGB laser driver for pico laser projectors aimed at automotive heads-up displays (HUDs). It combines three RGB lasers on one IC to minimise module size and eliminate the need for additional optics. The high-intensity lasers project brighter, more vivid images onto the HUD to easily alert the driver while enhancing safety. High integration means longer battery life, less heat buildup, and a smaller module size. The module consumes less than 1 W in total, enabling long battery life, low heat dissipation, and minimal thermal sinking. The MAX3601 is available in a 3- by 3.5-mm, 42-bump wafer-level package (WLP) and a 5- by 5-mm, 40-pin thin quad flat no-lead (TQFN) package, specified from –40°C to 105°C.
