Charge Pump Replaces Isolated Supplies

Offered as a cost-effective replacement for small, isolated switching power supplies, the NIS6201 embarks as the industry’s only floating, regulated charge pump for low power applications. The device provides a regulated output voltage, allowing it to float the bias or supply voltage on top of any bus voltage and making it desirable for a wide range of applications. These include driving ORing diodes and LEDs and floating supervisory circuits. The device integrates a linear regulator and a charge pump that allows bias-voltage supplies to be transferred from a ground-referenced source to a higher potential. As high-voltage components are external to the pump and can be sized accordingly, the NIS6201 handles any isolation voltage required up to 100V. Other features include an adjustable voltage output and thermal protection. Available in a lead-free SO-8 package, price is $0.53 each/10,000. ON SEMICONDUCTOR, Phoenix, AZ. (800) 282-9855.
