Especially suitable for use where a unique look is a design goal, such as in pro-audio equipment, musical instruments, and advertising POS systems, these high-intensity purple LEDs are housed in a weather-resistant epoxy package, enabling the devices to withstand outdoor conditions. They are also said to be clearly visible under all normal ambient lighting conditions. Made in industry standard 5 mm, 3 mm and SMD packages, these innovative indicators and illuminators have a luminous intensity of 1,800 mcds (max.), a 20° viewing angle, a peak wavelengths of 437 nm, and are characterized by a unique, “electric” hue in a pink-purple color range. The devices have an operating temperature range from -30°C to +85°C. Lens color is water clear transparent. The new purple LEDs come in a wide range of packages, including through-hole and surface mount types. Pricing is from $1 each in production quantities. BIVAR INC., Irvine, CA. (949) 951-8808.
