Combining a miniature, threaded,12-mm housing and an extended sensing range of 50.8 mm, the Superprox Model SM300 "install-it-and-forget-it" sensor is designed to solve proximity sensing problems, including where physical damage is caused by the object striking the sensor. While the rated operating distances for many metal inductive proximity sensors are less than 9 mm, requiring the sensor to almost touch the object being detected, the SM300 can detect objects at distances of 6.35 mm to as far as 50.8 mm from the sensor face. No adjustments are needed for detecting different materials, changing colors, varying light conditions, or distance to object. The NEMA 4X and IP67 rated and CE-certified SM300 ultrasonic proximity sensor operates on 12 to 24 Vdc and has an amber LED for indicating power on and an orange LED for indicating an object is within the sensing range, regardless of output state.
