Columbus Day weekend is often the best time to view the fall foliage—but how can you tell if a particular location is worth the drive? Well, there’s an app for that.
Yankee Magazine’s Leaf Peepr “…helps fall-foliage fans find and report on the best and brightest colors in the United States.”
Users of the app can make foliage reports (Peeps!), post photos, write comments, and rate foliage status (green, turning, moderate, peak, fading, or gone) using the “Peak Slider.” A particular location’s overall rating is determined by averaging other reports from the same area.
My location (Cambridge) is currently “moderate.” Peak locations nearby include western Massachusetts and parts of Maine, New Hampshire, and Vermont.
Versions of Leaf Peepr are available for iOS, Android, and Firefox OS phones. Visit Yankee Foliage for more.
