Gentex Corporation says its automatic-dimming mirrors will be used in the Ford Five Hundred sedan, Ford Freestyle sport wagon, and Mercury Montego mid-size sedan. The auto-dimming mirror is a standard feature on the Montego. A base automatic-dimming mirror is standard on the Five Hundred and Freestyle SEL and limited trim levels.
Gentex’ mirrors automatically darken to reduce glare from the headlamps of vehicles approaching from the rear. The brighter the glare, the darker the mirrors become, making nighttime driving safer.
