The government of Delhi, India, has purchased 1 mbyte optical memory cards from LaserCard Corporation for use as secure vehicle registration documents. Optical memory in the “RC Book” card stores the cardholder's vehicle tax record, accident history, biometrics, and any citations and prosecutions, in addition to the vehicle registration. Cutover to the optical card system is expected to occur over the next few years.

"We believe that Indian secure vehicle registration programs are a potentially significant opportunity for the LaserCard optical memory card if the programs there expand as planned," notes LaserCard Chief Executive Officer Richard Haddock.
