IC manufacturer Micrel Inc. says it plans to acquire the ISO/TS16949:2002 certification, which aligns existing American (QS-9000), German (VDA6.1), French (EAQF) and Italian (AVSQ) automotive quality systems standards. The certification is a key milestone for working with major automotive customers.
Micrel’s load-dump protected high-voltage low drop-out (LDO) regulators and RF products, including the MICRF009, a QwikRadio low-power UHF receiver, have already been used in automotive applications, including remote keyless entry systems.
Micrel plans to be audit ready for ISO/TS16949:2002 certification by the end of 2005.
As a first step, the firm said in January that its wafer fabrication facility has been certified to ISO14001:1996, the International Environmental Management System standard.
