National Semiconductor Corp. said it’s seeking a buyer for its assembly and test plant in Toa Payoh, Singapore.

National Semiconductor Corp. said it’s seeking a buyer for its assembly and test plant in Toa Payoh, Singapore. The facility employs approximately 1,000 people, including 320 professional staff and 680 technicians and operators.

"Although National's Singapore facility is a world-class operation with a highly skilled workforce, it is geared more toward complex, high-pin count (digital) products," said Brian L. Halla, National's chairman, president and CEO. "We are seeking a buyer for the facility because National is moving to a product portfolio that doesn't require these high-pin count packages."

Current manufacturing activities at the Singapore plant will continue during the sale process.
