A 1 W, 400 mA surface-mount LED module from BivarOpto is capable of up to 60-lumen output for automotive headlamps among other applications.

Based on Cree XLamp technology, BivarOpto’s LK series is packaged on an aluminum PCB base using standard reflow processes to achieve electrical and thermal connections without epoxy. The encased metal module, with an integrated lens, measures 0.800-inches (20.3mm) in a hexagonal pattern and is manufactured lead-free in compliance with WEEE and RoHS materials and process specifications.

Anthony Vilgiate, vice president of marketing for Bivar said the module offers up to 130% more color gamut for greater color saturation in addition to providing 40 lumen to 60 lumen outputs. It’s suited for operating temperatures from –30 ºC to 100 ºC, and provides ESD protection beyond 2000 V per Mil-Std-883D. Its viewing angle is 100 ° with full spectrum wavelengths available from 465 nm to 635 nm, and in white to 8000 k. The module’s maximum lf rating is 400 mW. The lens appearance is transparent when off. It’s available with a two-pin, header-based connector assembly for plug-and-play circuitry. Priced at $4 in production quantities, the module is available from stock.
