APEX Special Events Target Science, Technology, Networking

February 8, 2013. IPC APEX EXPO will convene February 19 in San Diego and will include three keynote presentations designed to inspire innovation.

Among the IPC APEX EXPO special events is a free opening keynote by Dr. Michio Kaku. Known for popularizing physics through his Discovery Channel specials and best-selling books, Kaku will kick off the show with a keynote exploring life and technology in the year 2100, followed by a book signing of his book Physics of the Future. Other free keynote presentations feature former General Motors executive Dr. Larry Burns on “Reinventing the Automobile” and Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) chief engineer B. Gentry Lee recapping the “Journey to Mars: Curiosity Rover Mission.

“The special events at the show add tremendous value for attendees,” said Alicia Balonek, IPC senior director of trade shows and events. “Most of the events are free with registration—whether you pre-register for free exhibit hall admission or sign up for our most comprehensive educational package.”

Several events will take place on the show floor, including at the IPC/NPL Cleaning and Contamination Center, where attendees can get expert guidance on new cleaning and contamination monitoring processes and learn how to tackle reliability failures.

Two hand-soldering contests will also heat up the show floor, first as competitors strive to win the IPC APEX EXPO Hand Soldering Competition—and then as the winner faces off with victors from other competitions around the world in the inaugural IPC Hand Soldering World Championship.

Multiple free networking opportunities will also be available for attendees throughout the event, including an International Reception, First-Timers’ Welcome Breakfast, Government Relations Committee Open Forum, Show Floor Reception, Women in Electronics Networking Meeting, and IPC Tech Talk Breakfast.
