Saifun acquires 90 nm process know-how from SMIC

Saifun Semiconductors Ltd. (www.saifun.com) and Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corporation (www.smics.com) have agreed that Saifun will acquire 90nm process technology IP and know-how from SMIC.

Saifun Semiconductors Ltd. and Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corporation have agreed that Saifun will acquire 90 nm process technology IP and know-how from SMIC. Samples of 90 nm SMIC NAND (data) flash have been shipped and availability is planned for later this year. A 2 Gb product based on Saifun NROM technology is the highest density of data flash in the same technology node, the companies said. The next product will be 8 Gb based on Saifun Quad NROM four-bit-per-cell technology. It’s scheduled to reach the market early in 2008.
