The Daimler Chrysler subsidiary smart GmbH has selected Garmin International Inc. to provide the smart portable navigator, a Garmin GPS designed for the cockpit of smart's fortwo and forfour models. The navigator is a derivative of Garmin's new StreetPilot c500 series. Mounted in a custom cradle, the device will provide in-car navigation with automatic route calculation, offering a 3-D navigation view or a "bird's eye" overhead view. It will offer voice-prompted directions and come preloaded with a POI database.
