TRW Automotive supplies safety technologies for 2006 Dodge Charger, Cadillac DTS

TRW Automotive Holdings (www.trwauto.com), through various subsidiaries, is supplying new Dodge Charger and Cadillac DTS models with active and passive safety systems.

Passive safety systems for the Charger include an advanced occupant classification system for the front passenger seating position that tailors the deployment of the airbag to the weight of the occupant or will turn off the airbag in the case of an infant or small child. TRW is also supplying side curtain airbags that use cold gas inflator technology for enhanced side impact protection for all outboard passengers. The Cadillac DTS is also equipped with TRW's front, driver-side, and side curtain airbag systems.

Optional active safety components on some Dodge Charger models include a power steering system with "9-land" valve damping technology that reduces system vibration and noise and contributes to a stable steering feel. TRW is also supplying brake system components, suspension control arms, interior switches, sensors, and HVAC controls.

The Cadillac DTS features TRW Automotive anti-lock braking systems, traction control, StabiliTrak (electronic stability control), and rain sensing windshield wiper sensors.

The StabiliTrak system is designed to assist drivers during difficult driving conditions by monitoring steering wheel angle, yaw rate and lateral acceleration. If a potential loss of vehicle control is sensed, StabiliTrak automatically adjusts brake pressure on individual wheels and cuts engine throttle to help bring the vehicle back in line with the driver's intended path.

TRW Automotive's Brake Assist monitors the driver's braking tendencies, sensing when emergency braking situations are imminent. When sensors determine that the driver wants to stop quickly, the system automatically applies full braking pressure, helping to bring the vehicle to a stop more rapidly.
