Fiat has selected Israeli start-up Particle Monitoring Technologies Ltd. (PML), a Kinarot-Jordan Valley Technology Incubator company, to head a research consortium to develop a method for measuring and analyzing vehicle emissions. PML develops industrial laser-based particles monitoring systems.

The three-year research program is intended to develop a method for measuring and analyzing emissions from vehicle engines in order to meet the increasingly strict standards of European and U.S. environmental agencies. PML will develop monitoring means for the mass production of nanotechnology-based sensors. PML has applied for patents for its technology offices in Israel, the United States, the European Union and Australia.
