XM NavWeather debuts on Acura RL

XM (www.xmradio.com) said Acura (www.acura.com) will be the first OEM to debut the XM NavWeather service introduced in January.

XM said Acura will be the first OEM to debut the XM NavWeather service introduced in January. The 2009 Acura RL will offer the service as part of AcuraLink.

XM NavWeather delivers a real-time, personalized weather-tracking service through a vehicle’s in-dash navigation system, with information on more than 20 weather conditions customized for the driver’s specific route. Baron Services’ "Threat Matrix" technology provides immediate alerts on developing weather threats, such as hail, floods, tornado and storm warnings.

XM also said that the 2009 Chevrolet Traverse will be the first Chevrolet vehicle to offer XM NavTraffic as a factory- installed feature. NavTraffic is currently available in 80 U.S. markets.

Hyundai will offer XM NavTraffic as an option on the Genesis, its new, rear-wheel drive premium sports sedan. The Genesis will be the first Hyundai brand vehicle to offer the service, which will be available as part of the vehicle's navigation system. Hyundai has also integrated XM Radio into the color, touch-screen navigation display on the 2009 Sonata.

The 2009 Toyota Corolla and Matrix will be the first Toyota vehicles to offer XM Radio as a factory-equipped feature. The models will also offer XM NavTraffic as an option with GPS navigation systems.
