Volkswagen integrated an AUTOSAR-compliant comfort and convenience electronic control unit (ECU) into an existing ECU network by automatically generating AUTOSAR-compliant from Simulink models with The MathWorks’ Real-Time Workshop Embedded Coder.

Volkswagen project manager Bernd Kunkel said the AUTOSAR-compliant ECU was subsequently integrated onto a serial device that was deployed in a VW Passat sedan. He said Volkswagen worked closely with The MathWorks to integrate Model-Based Design, which accelerated the generation of code, eliminated many of the errors associated with hand-coding and helped contribute to developing open standards.
