Maxwell Technologies Inc. is offering a 48 V multicell BOOSTCAP ultracapacitor module consisting of 18 2.7 V BOOSTCAP MC2600 cells. Targeting heavy-duty transportation as well as industrial energy storage and power delivery applications, the BMOD2600-48 is based on a technology that is said to enable cells and multicell modules to store more energy, deliver more power per-unit volume, and last longer than other commercially available ultracapacitor products. According to Maxwell, the module uses proprietary material that reduces manufacturing cost and supports pricing in the $.01/µF range for multimillion-cell quantities.
