Sipex 2.5 MHz dc/dc synchronous controller meets ADSL2+ power requirements

Sept. 28, 2006
Sipex Corporation (www.sipex.com) claims to be among the first to market with a 2.5MHz synchronous DC/DC controller that can power ADSL2+ and full ADSL2 "SRA" (Seamless Rate Adaptation) modems.

Sipex Corporation claims to be among the first to market with a 2.5 MHz synchronous dc/dc controller that can power ADSL2+ and full ADSL2 seamless rate adaptation (SRA) modems.

By operating above the maximum 2.2 MHz ADSL2+ frequency, the SP6138 avoids data interference without the need for additional filtering components. Developers of automotive GPS navigation systems may find the high operating frequency a good way to avoid AM radio interference, according to the company.

The device is said to generate minimum on-times of less than 30 ns, allowing direct conversion at 2.5 MHz from 15 V to modem DSP core and I/O voltages. Single supply rail operation from 4.5 V to 5.5 V or 5 V to 24 V simplifies design and eliminates the need for additional intermediate rails.
