Clarion broadens MaxxBass use in powered automotive subwoofers

Sept. 22, 2006
Waves Audio Ltd. said that Clarion Co., Ltd. has expanded its use of Waves’ MaxxBass technology in Clarion’s automotive subwoofer products.

Waves Audio Ltd. (www.waves.com) said that Clarion Co., Ltd. (www.clarion.com) has expanded its use of Waves’ MaxxBass technology in Clarion’s automotive subwoofer products. Isao Masaki, manager of product planning in Clarion’s sales and marketing division, noted that car audio customers often desire strong bass, but said the effect is usually difficult to achieve without large, high power subwoofers. “MaxxBass allows us to achieve power bass levels without large enclosures and is ideal for space limited car applications," he said.

Paul Bundschuh, vice president of sales and marketing for Waves Semiconductor Division, said MaxxBass uses a patented psycho-acoustic algorithm that extends perceived bass response by up to 1.5 octaves.
