Cirrus stereo A/Ds target automotive audio

Cirrus Logic Inc. (www.cirrus.com) has introduced two delta-sigma stereo analog-to-digital converters for automotive and other audio applications.

Cirrus Logic Inc. has introduced two delta-sigma stereo analog-to-digital converters for automotive and other audio applications. The CS5343 and CS5344 come in 10-pin TSSOP packages that occupy less than 15 square millimeters.

Jason Rhode, vice president and general manager of Cirrus’ mixed-signal audio division, said the converters offer premium audio performance in the industry's smallest form factor without the need for configuration or support circuitry.

Based on a multibit delta-sigma architecture, the CS5343 (I2S serial interface format) and CS5344 (left-justified serial data format) operate from a single 3.3 V or 5 V power supply and feature proprietary automatic mode selection to eliminate external configuration. The parts’ input design provides high (7.5 MOhms) input impedance, which enables designers to use simple passive input circuits for stereo line-level inputs, thus reducing design time, board space and cost. Both converters support audio sample rates up to 108 kHz and deliver 98 dB of dynamic range and -90 dB of THD+N. Their power consumption is 50 mW.
