Concurrent has introduced version 5.2 of its real-time Linux operating system, RedHawk, to include the IEEE 1588 Precision Time Protocol (PTP) standard and improved memory shielding support for NUMA (Non-Uniform Memory Architecture) platforms.

The PTP time-transfer standard provides for precise synchronization of multiple systems on a network. Concurrent said RedHawk PTP support offers accuracy in the tens of microseconds without the need for special networking hardware.

The enhanced RTOS also includes Linux kernel 2.6.26, Red Hat Linux 5.2 compatibility, support for the latest Intel and AMD processors and chipsets, NVIDIA graphics drivers, and enhanced Concurrent NightStar tools for real-time Linux debugging and tuning.
