Opal-RT Technologies Inc. (www.opal-rt.com/) has introduced RT-LAB MX Station, combining its software with FPGA and commercial off-the-shelf technologies to provide rapid prototyping of power electronic controllers and real-time hardware-in-the-loop simulation of motor drives used in electrical hybrid vehicles and other applications.

Opal-RT Technologies Inc. has introduced the RT-LAB MX station. It combines its software with FPGA and commercial off-the-shelf technologies to provide rapid prototyping of power electronic controllers and real-time hardware-in-the-loop simulation of motor drives used in electrical hybrid vehicles and other applications.

Chief technology officer Jean Belanger said MX station provides the processing power, hardware-in-the-loop, and FPGA development capabilities of the company's flagship RT-LAB engineering simulator, but added that engineers can take the MX station out of the laboratory for on-site service and in-vehicle testing. Belanger said MX station can be configured to simulate IGBT converters, motors and their mechanical loads in real-time.
