China Automotive Systems opens an office in Detroit

China Automotive Systems, Inc. (www.caasauto.com), which supplies power steering components and systems in China, has opened an office in Troy, Michigan; its first in North America.

China Automotive Systems, which supplies power steering components and systems in China, has opened an office in Troy, MI; its first in North America. The operation will focus on market development, R&D and after sales service in North America.

"We hope to leverage the resources available in the U.S. to upgrade our product quality, enhance new product R&D and extend our leadership in the Chinese domestic market,” said China Automotive Systems chairman and chief executive officer, Hanlin Chen. “Internationally, our U.S. presence will also enable us to shorten the communication gap between our China operation and U.S. OEMs. Ultimately, we see tremendous technology collaboration and growth opportunities between our new U.S. office and our existing Chinese operations,” he said.
