The Automotive Industry Action Group and the Strategic Automotive Standards Industry Group have published recommendations focused on aligning engineering change management (ECM) practices and processes for the automotive industry. The publications – SASIG ECM Recommendations, SASIG ECM - Engineering Change Request, and SASIG ECM - Process Reference – were created by AIAG in collaboration with global OEM supplier standards organizations including VDA in Germany, GALIA in France, Odette in Sweden, and JAMA in Japan. According to the industry groups, adoption of the EMC Recommendations will reduce the cost of engineering changes, which are currently estimated to cost more than $10 billion.
