Texas Instruments has introduced two AEC Q100-qualified and TS-26949-certified class D audio amplifiers, TAS5414 (single-ended input) and TAS5424 (differential input), for use as head units and external amplifiers. Featuring a digital pulse-width modulation (PWM) topology, the four-channel devices deliver 90% power efficiency at normal listening levels. Two TAS54x4 amplifiers can provide eight channels of audio while generating less heat than a four-channel class A/B-based system, thus enabling cost-effective eight-channel systems that are lighter, smaller and more power efficient than existing systems, according to the company.
